Just today I discovered this great web site. I enjoy sketch challenges so this is great for me. The Operation Write Home Memorial Day Blog Hop was a blast and I happened to have made a few purchases (!) So, this was a chance to use one of my new colored digital stamps and a couple of old 12x12 patterned papers.

S & S Midweek Challenge: Transportation

After 2 days of delving into my ancestry, it was a pleasure to create a card for this challenge! We are also in the midst of a bathroom remodel and Princess Chloe (see photo at left) is having a hard time of it with the loud noises and those strange men coming in and out. So we took a creative time-out.
First, I looked through all my digital stamps to find a mode of transportation and came up with this vintage collage. I guess it is a type of carriage (?) Oh! Just remembered I have a camel stamp. That would work, too. Maybe?
I used OWH Sketch # 160.

One Sheet Wonder

Thank you, Seongsook, for sharing this tutorial with Operation Write Home!! I couldn't wait to try it and here is the result. First, I located one of my all-time favorite double-sided patterned 12x12 papers that I had "saved" in my special place for at least a couple of years. I made a small mistake cutting it out, but was still able to make 8 cards. I found coordinating paper at my LSS, Of the Heart, and put everything together today. What fun!

This weekend marks our 40th wedding anniversary! We had a great time together yesterday, and today we're doing our own thing. For me, that means card-making. Here's my creation for the current Sunday sketch over at Stars and Stamps.

Unscripted Sketches # 210

These sketches are different and fresh and I enjoy creating with them. My first attempt was a dud. Then I remembered all the odd pieces of the Graphic 45 "Place in Time" collection that I have saved and decided to use those.
The small circle punch is of unknown origin. The wavy line cutting guide is by Creative Memories.

S&S Midweek Challenge: Sentiment as Focal Point

This card is totally CAS and was created because I needed a sympathy card. The sentiment is not appropriate for Operation Write Home, but it fits the guideline for this challenge. Hope you like it!

In Honor of Jane E, devoted OWH card maker

Operation Write Home has lost a creative lady who brought joy and comfort to the friends and family of our deployed military through her creativity and devotion to making cards. Here is my CASE of one of her cards. You can see them all at the OWH Blog, Stars and Stamps.

The scan of this card did not work well with showing off the sherbet-like colors. The wide strip is green and the larger circles a bright yellow. It looks so pretty in person. Sorry it looks so faded here.

SOS Challenge #100: Mother's Day or Pink

I had to dig deep into my stash for the flower. It was a gift years ago. I removed the large, round, sparkly pink center and replaced it with a pink brad. Unfortunately, it still may be too thick to use as a card for Operation Write Home. Still, I like the pink and green combo on the card and the matching colors of the flower made it too good not to use :)

Here we go again! These challenges make the first day of the month special since I love, love, love Doodle Pantry digital stamps!
Here's an image I am using for the first time. Don't you just love her tiny green flippers? I discovered this design at my LSS (local scrapbook store) Of the Heart in Lemon Grove, California. It is a great way to use up those pesky scraps and I like finding colorful designs that go together and/or match the image or embellishment I want to use.

Here's a different sort of card for me featuring die cuts using my Cuttlebug. This was really fun to make and I am feeling just a wee bit creative after putting all the pieces together!
